Registration for the Advanced Jazz 2024 course is now open!

Every year, IMEP – Paris College of Music offers advanced jazz courses with IMEP musicians and teachers Manuel Rocheman and Romain Pilon.

Please note that places are limited to a maximum of 5 students per class, as selected by the teacher. In order to guarantee group homogeneity, you may be asked to audition or send videos of your playing to take part in the course. Registration deadline: September 8.

These courses offer passionate jazz musicians a unique opportunity to improve their skills through instruction by internationally renowned musicians.

These advanced courses are designed above all for guitarists or pianists with a certain level of instrumental practice who are looking to deepen their understanding and mastery of jazz.

Last but not least, interactive courses in small groups of 4 to 5 people allow for personalized feedback and exchange.

Romain Pilon

Over the years, Romain Pilon has established himself as an important figure on the European jazz scene.

After studying at the Conservatoire de Chambéry, Romain Pilon won a scholarship to Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music. He stayed there for 4 years, during which time he met Pat Metheny and played with many musicians – Christian Scott, Esperanza Spalding, Warren Wolf, Lionel Loueke…

The Financial Times describes him as a « world class » musician. Jazz Wise calls him a “brilliant improviser”. As leader, he recorded four albums, all very well received by the press. “Choc” for Jazz Magazine, “Indispensable” for Jazz News… with world-renowned jazz musicians such as Ben Wendel, Walter Smith, Seamus Blake, Matt Brewer… In conclusion, his knowledge of tradition and his ability to adapt to both traditional and more modern contexts make him a sought-after sideman.

Manuel Rocheman

To begin with : C.N.R de Paris with Alberto Neuman. Jazz with Michel Sardaby and Martial Solal. His first CD, “Trio Urbain”, was awarded the Prix Boris Vian by the Académie du Jazz in 1991. But also the Django d’Or for his second album “White Keys” in 1992. And finally, in 1998, he was awarded the Prix Django Reinhardt by the Académie du Jazz, for best musician of the year. Professeur de piano jazz en 3ème cycle au Conservatoire Nadia et Lili Boulanger, Paris 9ème, professeur invité au CMDL – Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood.
