Guitarist trumpeter Josiah Woodson joins IMEP • Paris College of Music

In replacing the guitarist Bernard Vidal, we welcome the guitarist trumpet player composer Josiah Woodson in our team from the beginning of 2017. Josiah will take the course of Bernard from the 2nd year (repertoire, workshops, improvisation).

Grammy Award winner for his collaboration with Beyoncé’s “Love on Top” song, Josiah Woodson began his music apprenticeship with the trumpet at the age of 12. Trained in California at the Oaktown Jazz Workshop, he developed his own mentor, Khalil Shaheed.

Josiah Woodson holds a Bachelor Music Degree from the Oberlin Conservatory (Ohio) where he studied with Marcus Belgrave, and a master’s in music (with honors) from the Boston Conservatory of New England. It was there that he was selected to play Panama Jazz Festival with Danilo Perez, David Sanchez, Victor Paz and Kurt Rosenwinkel.

Josiah has had the honor of collaborating and / or performing on stage with renowned musicians and artists such as Branford Marsalis, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, David Sanchez, Danilo Perez, Ronnie Burrage, Mario Canonge, John Lockwood, Dave Holland, Ben Williams, Mulgrew Miller, Michelle Zenino, Marcus Belgrave, Clarence Clemons, Beyonce Knowles, Blitz the Ambassador, Mos Def, Winner Harper, Steve Turre, Najee and many more.

The entire GPEI team welcomes him. We are convinced that Josiah will fully fulfill its educational mission at the GPEI, to the greatest benefit of all students.      Josiah’s Website
