Garance Tout Court at Hasard Ludique

In November 2024, Garance Tout Court, singer-actress-songwriter, released the track ‘JVS’ on streaming platforms.

In this poignant, not to say deeply moving track, Garance revisited the classic ‘I Will Survive’ with piano and vocals, describing a terribly toxic and traumatic relationship from which she managed to free herself despite the hold it had over her and the shock she suffered as a result. At the heart of this piano-voice performance, she incorporated into the music a voice message left by her ex-partner/abuser, in which he apologises for his misdeeds, tries to dissuade her from pressing charges, and implicitly admits to the abuse.

Within a few hours, the clip was shared on social media by numerous individuals, followed by a call for witnesses, which enabled other victims (former partners and/or colleagues of this man) to recognise the voice of their common abuser and contact Garance to offer their support and testify to the violence perpetrated by this man against them. Other women and men also came forward to report harassment or inappropriate behaviour by the same man, who was known as a musician on the Paris scene and owned a music studio in the Paris region.

After only a few days, Garance’s song was taken down from streaming platforms under pressure from her attacker, who also filed a complaint against Garance for ‘invasion of privacy.’

By releasing this song, Garance not only freed herself from a secret that had paralysed her for two years, but she also enabled other victims to break their silence and other potential victims to protect themselves from the dangerous and manipulative nature of this man, who used his profession as a musician, arranger and producer to collaborate with female musicians and approach them more easily.

Together, Garance, Moeun, Jemina, and myself, who wishes to remain anonymous, filed a complaint for rape, spousal abuse, psychological violence, and invasion of privacy against the same perpetrator.

We are launching a fundraising campaign, as well as this concert, in order to raise funds to help us pay our legal fees for our joint complaint, as well as to pay the legal fees of Garance, who is the subject of a complaint for ‘invasion of privacy’ by this man, who, in addition to not acknowledging his guilt for the assaults he committed, is demanding indecent sums of money from his victim.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
