The Orchestre National de Jazz launches the new season of the Orchestre des Jeunes de l’ONJ! Send in your application before 6 October 2024.
The Orchestre des Jeunes de l’ONJ is a scheme for French and European students wishing to get involved in an orchestral project.
Intended audience
- Students from French and European higher arts education centres.
- Students in specialised cycles and preparatory classes for higher education at Conservatoires.
- Students in vocational training at FNEIJMA schools
Goals:
The ONJ Youth Orchestra is a project created in 2018 that gives students the opportunity to play with other musicians from different regions of France and Europe, to meet leading French and European jazz artists and composers, and to learn how to work in an orchestra.
Pianist and composer Sophia Domancich, a soloist with Didier Levallet’s Orchestre des Jeunes (1997-2000), is taking over the reins of the orchestra for this sixth and new season, dedicated to the double bassist’s repertoire. The orchestra’s instrumentation will be in the spirit of the jazz Big Band, broadening its sound palette by introducing instruments that are rarer or have never been encountered in this context (cello, horn…),
As in previous seasons, the orchestra will be performing in concerts (an average of 6 per season).
The deadline for applications is Sunday 6 October.
