Professional Internship: New York in Paris

Real Time Music is organizing a professional workshop titled “Brooklyn in Paris,” a unique immersion into the world of musical improvisation featuring Ralph Alessi (trumpet), Michael Formanek (double bass), Michael Attias (saxophone), and Kate Gentile (drums)—one of the most innovative ensembles on the contemporary jazz scene.

This intensive 6-day program, taking place April 5–10, 2027, at IMEP Paris College of Music, is designed for professional and pre-professional musicians who wish to deepen their skills in improvisation, spontaneous composition, and ensemble playing. Led by leading artists from the New York music scene, this workshop features hands-on workshops, themed masterclasses, and a public performance, offering an experience that combines learning and performance.

New York in Paris: Professional Workshop on Group Improvisation and Instant Composition

In partnership with the School for Improvisational Music (SIM) in New York, this 6-day intensive workshop is led by Ralph Alessi, Michael Attias, Michael Formanek, and Kate Gentile.

Who is this for? Professional musicians or those on the path to becoming professionals who wish to deepen their practice of collective improvisation, develop their active listening skills, and explore new compositional approaches.
