Christopher Culpo

Christopher Culpo is a graduate of the Juilliard School of New York and Boston University.

He studied with Charles Banacos (piano), Milton Babbitt and David del Tredici (composition). He has received awards, commissions and grants from the Massachusetts Arts Lottery, New York State Council of the Arts, Harvest Works, ASCAP, Centre Acanthes, Annette Kade Foundation, Fulbright Commission and Ministère de la Culture (France). His works have been performed by the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Longwood Symphony Boston, pianist Guy Livingston, Koehne Quartet, Franco-American Chamber Ensemble, soprano Rayanne Dupuis and the Ensemble 2e2m, Quintet of the Americas, Ensemble Aleph. CDs Culpo/Richard/Herbert Trio « Portrait in Black and White », « Love & Bananas Are Here » (Cristal Records). Taught at the American School of Modern Music from 2008 to 2016.

In November 2019, Mundus Imaginalis, Christopher Culpo’s composition for piano and strings won second prize in the 4th Uuno Klami International Composition Competition and was performed and recorded in Finland by the Kymi Sinfonietta orchestra.
