As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to take stock of this year at IMEP. We wish you all the very best for a happy festive season and a well-deserved break!

An unforgettable graduation ceremony

This year’s graduation ceremony took place at the Studio de l’Ermitage. In the presence of the talented guitarist Manu Codjia, who performed pieces with the IMEP ensembles and Big Band, the evening was a real moment of sharing and celebration. Video footage of the evening will be available soon, but in the meantime you can take a look back at the photos of the event.

Inspiring encounters with renowned musicians

Throughout the year, our students have had the opportunity to receive invaluable advice from internationally renowned musicians such as Jeff Boudreaux, Rick Margitza, Yaron Herman, Leslie Lewis, Rémi Kalfon, Steve Browman, Jane Miller, Richard Carrick and Marc Yu from Berklee College of Music. Many thanks to them for their availability and their teaching, which has greatly enriched our musical careers.

The year’s successes

This year has been marked by a number of successes of which we are particularly proud:

  • IMEP students Esaïe Menou and Jazz Angarny have won full scholarships to the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
  • The IMEP group Who Parked The Car won the Made In New York Jazz Competition and will be touring the United States from May 2025.
  • Anjali Denis, a former student of the Cycle Libre, joined the renowned Juilliard School in September.
  • Cyrille Aimée, a former student and member of our teaching team, has been nominated for a 2025 Grammy Award.
  • Rick Margitza has published his book ‘365 Days of Practice’, an essential tool for musicians.
  • Sélène Saint-Aimé, a former student of the Cycle Professionnel, shared the stage with Joey Starr for the show Black Label.
The year ahead: 2025 for IMEP

In 2025, IMEP will continue its mission to train accomplished and committed musicians, with many exciting projects in the pipeline:

  • The IOMA certification (Interpréter une œuvre de musiques actuelles), registered in the Répertoire Spécifique, will be offered to students in the first cycle of the Cycle Professionnel. This certification, which attests to the technical and artistic skills needed to work in contemporary music, will also make it possible to finance training through the CPF.

  • The range of extra-curricular courses will be enriched by exciting new courses, starting with the film music MAO course on 24, 25 and 26 February, followed by a piano accompaniment course for singers in the last week of June, and then a strings course in July.

And of course, throughout the year, the IMEP will continue to offer jams, masterclasses and concerts to enrich the experience of its students and audiences. Don’t forget to check our calendar for all the latest news!

We’re looking forward to the new year and continuing to help our students succeed. On the road to 2025!

Musically,

IMEP team
