The Glenn Ferris Newtet at the Barbizon
With Glenn Ferris, mentor of the 2014 IMEP • Paris College of Music class and Michael Felberbaum, teacher at IMEP.
Legendary trombonist GLENN FERRIS has played a wide variety of jazz styles throughout his career, alongside such iconic artists as Frank Zappa, Stevie Wonder, Billy Cobham, Steve Lacy, Philly Joe Jones, Marital Solal, Henri Texier, Michel Petrucciani, Archie Shepp and many more. He has also led numerous personal musical projects featuring his prolific original compositions, ranging from trios to big bands, and from acoustic to electric music.
This new quartet, “NEWTET”, is his first project since before the Covid period, and this music reflects the extremely creative period he enjoyed during the Covid years.
He is accompanied by his faithful acolytes: Bruno Rousselet on bass, Jeff Boudreaux on drums and Michael Felberbaum on guitar.
The music is fresh, energetic, clear and simple, but always with complex and elegant subtleties in the background.
Glenn is a great improviser, exhilarating and imbued with a playful joy and deep-rooted blues influences. These new compositions give him enormous freedom to explore new directions at any time.
