Anne Paceo “Atlantis” / Donny Mccaslin + Ishkero
An evening to celebrate the most elegant hybrids of jazz, rock and electronica, with an unprecedented collaboration between American saxophonist Donny McCaslin and the Parisian group Ishkero – winner of the Talents Adami Jazz 2025 prize – and a new creation by drummer and composer Anne Paceo, immersed in the ocean’s currents.
1/ Donny McCaslin + Ishkero
An electric quintet formed over ten years ago in Paris, Ishkero spent a long time honing their modern groove before recording their first album. Released in 2023 to enthusiastic critical acclaim, Shama follows in the footsteps of the progressive rock that emerged in the late 1960s. Between hypnotic tracks and psychedelic sweetness, the group uses its powerful cohesion to explore a music that is open to its time. This talent has not escaped the notice of saxophonist Don McCaslin, who has made electric fusions the common thread running through his latest albums, bearing witness to the turn taken by the American musician since 2014 and his collaboration on David Bowie’s Blackstar. Along with the jury of the Talents Adami Jazz 2025 scheme, Don McCaslin has chosen Ishkero to create an original live show with him, presented exclusively on the stages of three partner festivals, including Jazz à la Villette. The promise of a feverish encounter between jazz and rock.
2/ Anne Paceo “Atlantis”
Drummer and composer Anne Paceo has come a long way since the release of her debut album in 2008. Over and above the numerous awards and the radiant success, it’s the breadth of musical openness and the originality of the projects the musician has worked on over the years that impress. Her organic, abundant and generous style extends to the frontiers of jazz, pop and electronic music, spurred on by her curiosity for the sounds and cultures of the world. Anne Paceo returns today to unveil Atlantis, her 8th album, just a few days after its release on 29 August. In it, the composer explores her relationship with the ocean, inspired by the legend of Atlantis – the mythical island sunk by the wrath of Zeus – but also by her experience of scuba diving and the tales of solo sailors. Electronics, keyboards, rhythms, blowers and vocals flow in warm, powerful currents.
