The program includes:

2 days of introductory classes in Afro-Brazilian jazz and 2 days of introductory classes in Afro-Cuban jazz

The first day will be devoted to exploring and listening to Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music. Participants will get to know one another, followed by an introduction to the instruments, with a focus on their rhythmic foundations and their role within an ensemble. The day will include opportunities for discussion and will conclude with a listening session and presentation of the pieces to be worked on the following day.

The second day will be devoted to studying and interpreting these pieces: assigning parts, assigning solos, and working out arrangements from a lead sheet, all in a group setting.
