BDE Masterclass: Jazz and Modern Music with Yassin Kramdi
IMEP professor Yassin Kramdi will be holding a masterclass on Saturday, January 24 at IMEP.
Theme: Jazz and modern music
A question that often comes up is that of integrating theoretical concepts, known as “jazz,” into other musical styles.
We will not be discussing jazz derivatives per se (fusion, electrojazz, etc.) here.
Nor is it a question of making jazz and its aesthetic “mainstream” (Norah Jones).
The idea is to preserve the foundations of the desired style and adapt concepts from jazz to it without losing its essence or making it “jazzy.” These are concepts that many artists have experimented with, either consciously or unconsciously.Yassin Kramdi.
