Applications now open for the Youth Orchestra
The National Jazz Orchestra is launching the new season of the ONJ Youth Orchestra, a programme aimed at French and European students wishing to get involved in an orchestra project.
Intended audience
  • Students from leading French and European arts education centres.
  • Students enrolled in specialised courses and preparatory classes for higher education at conservatories.
  • Students in vocational training at FNEIJMA schools.
Objectives

Since its creation in 2019, this professional integration programme has been made up of students from French and European jazz specialisation courses and, with the collaboration of former ONJ conductors, is dedicated to reinterpreting the orchestra’s repertoire. Its aim is to pass on a musical heritage to younger generations, introduce it to new audiences, and create a pool of young talent for professionals to discover.

For its seventh season, guitarist and composer Marc Ducret will take the reins of the orchestra. A soloist with François Jeanneau’s ONJ in 1986, this unique artist has confirmed his taste for large ensembles, notably through his Tower-Bridge and Le Sens de la Marche projects. Marc Ducret has close ties with the Brittany region, which is why the Youth Orchestra will be based there for its next season.

Application form
  • A CV and a cover letter.
  • Two video clips in which the candidate plays and improvises, or failing that, two audio recordings. At least one of the two must show the candidate in a group setting.

For drummers, no solo pieces; prefer playing in an orchestra or large ensemble.
