Piano training workshop for singers

IMEP organizes a 5-day course for singers. The aim of the course is to teach them how to accompany themselves on the piano. It is hosted by Orelle Soyeux.

Dates and times: Monday 24 to Friday 28 June 2024. From 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Intended audience: the course is open to singers aged 15 and over. beginner, intermediate or advanced level. The maximum number of trainees is limited to 9.

Program: a repertoire of various styles will be offered to the singers in order to approach different styles and accompaniment techniques.

Style study: learn different ways of accompanying yourself on the piano, in different styles (jazz, blues, pop, funk…), how to reproduce the groove of a piece on your own and enrich your accompaniment.

Arrangement: Knowing how to find one’s tonality, arranging a piece, constructing an introduction or a coda that works, how to present one’s project to a rhythm section in a clear and concise manner.

Organization: mornings are devoted to theoretical points and the development of methodological issues that will enable progress to be made. In the afternoons, trainees are assigned to a studio or cubicle to prepare practical exercises.

Pianos are available for use. Trainees should bring a microphone and a notebook. Teaching materials are provided.
The course is conducted in French, but the teacher is able to assist foreign trainees who speak English.

Price: 400 euros (25h course)
