Violinist Antoine Beux / Tony Bird Joins IMEP • Paris College of Music
At the start of the upcoming school year, IMEP • Paris College of Music is delighted to welcome violinist Antoine Beux/Tony Bird to its faculty.
Antoine Beux (aka Tony Bird) began studying the violin at the age of 5 in Paris. Tony earned his Advanced Diploma in classical violin from the ENM in Gennevilliers and began studying jazz at the MEP Paris College of Music in 2010.
In 2014, he formed the band 2Birds Band, which he took on tour in New York, Boston, Canada, and France—having recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston—until 2020.
Tony has played for internationally renowned artists like Jacob Collier and Lee Hom Wong, and is now part of Cirque du Soleil’s musician database.
In 2019, he was hired as solo violinist for the musical “The Band’s Visit,” which won 10 Tony Awards. Since 2021, he’s been part of “INSULA II,” a project led by Martinican pianist Maher Beauroy.
In 2024, he released the album “Flip The Bird” with 2BIRDS BAND, made up entirely of French musicians, playing shows in Paris and at a few festivals across France. He later joined the Aléthée 259 theater troupe as a composer, the string quartet “After Monk” (a tribute to Thelonious Monk) led by Gilles Naturel, and “Le Paris de Piaf” (a tribute to Edith Piaf) with Anne-Sophie Guerrier.
In 2025, Tony joined RÏCÏNN, an avant-garde doom metal band formed by singer Laure Le Prunenec (formerly of Igorrr and Corpo Mente), and opened for gypsy jazz guitarist Angelo Debarre with Les Mouches De Paname.
