Sélène Saint Aimé at Atelier du Plateau
Sélène Saint Aimé accompanies pianist Ignacio Plaza Ponce on his second album Arrullos
Like lullabies – arrullos in Spanish – pianist Ignacio Plaza Ponce’s music wanders between light and darkness, low tones and airy voices. Accompanied by Matteo Pastorino on bass clarinet and Sélène Saint-Aimé on double bass and vocals, the trio plunges us into a woodsy, intimate world. In a hybrid performance, they improvise with the inks of Magali Cazo, whose transparent brushwork questions our representation of gender. As the sounds stretch through space, enigmatically gentle beings come to life.
