Phil JL Robert is associated with Boogaloo, a musical genre that blends Latin American influences such as mambo and salsa with soul and jazz.
His musical vocabulary, sense of improvisation and ability to fuse different musical genres have enabled him to make a significant contribution to the Boogaloo revival. Backed by the warm voice of Melvin Clairault, Phil will release ‘Last Dance for Boogaloo’ in October 2025. Like ‘Boogaloo Zoo’ and ‘Boogaloo Station’, this album features driving rhythms, catchy melodies and rich arrangements, reflecting the music’s lively energy.
