Julie Erikssen Quartet at the Deux Magots
Maurice Ravel’s impressionistic melodies awakened Julie Erikssen’s love of music from an early age. This budding passion led her to take piano lessons at the conservatoire from the age of five, and to sign her first recording contract with Sony Music at the age of 19.
On stage, under the guidance of mentors, she immerses herself in the fascinating world of bebop. Endowed with an impressive natural swing and a modern ear, Julie is often invited to collaborate on projects with such emblematic figures as Manu Katché, Ali Jackson, Hadrien Féraud, Médéric Collignon, Laurent Courthaliac, Sam Tessier and Julian Caetano. All have been won over by her authenticity, artistic rigour and soulful presence. She became the first woman to host jam sessions at the legendary Duc des Lombards jazz club. Although she often accompanies herself on piano and guitar, she is always surrounded by top-class musicians.
