One of the few constants in jazz throughout its history is its indefectible link with improvisation. And it’s certainly in jam sessions that this link is strongest. In this last jam of 2024, we meet Etienne Mbappé, who has a real love affair with this Club, which began when he played every evening at Caf’Conc rue Saint Denis, then settled at the top of the stairs whenever he had a few minutes to listen to what was happening on our little stage. Now, almost 40 years on, it’s time to “pass on the baton”, and Etienne has surrounded himself with the younger generation for his new projects.
