Work on historical standards from the repertoire.
Course (each on his own instrument) :

• warm-up and general introduction to tone practice, ear and inner pulse, practice in context
• listening carefully to versions
• harmonic analysis and creation of the grid using ‘The Scales’, a melodic tool designed by Barry Harris
• voice-leadings
• transposition of melodic motifs, tonal and chordal approaches, aesthetic considerations
• developing a solo, training the ear and memory
• elements of jazz language
• questions.
