Bernard Vidal leaves Paris

From the start of the 2017 season, guitarist Bernard Vidal leaves the IMEP team to settle permanently in the south of France. It is at Sète that Bernard has for several years already found a place of predilection, preferred to the capital. After a lot of back and forth between the two places and the difficulties of matching his agenda with the imperatives of the IMEP, Bernard Vidal decided to settle more completely in the south and to put an end to his regular collaboration with the School.

We understand this decision and would like to thank Bernard Vidal very warmly for all he has contributed to the school during these years in our team. In 2002, Bernard took charge of the instrument department by developing the existing one and creating a general course for the 1st year as well as an efficient improvisation course, very much appreciated by the students. He has also mounted some summer workshop of which the quality has been unanimous recognised among students and professors. He has given masterclasses almost everywhere, especially in China. Bernard Vidal was part of the founding team of the IMEP • Paris College of Music, initiator of the current project and leaves an important imprint in the philosophy of teaching, a concrete and human way of approaching music beyond theoretical knowledge.

We keep in touch and partnerships will probably be built around specific actions,  as masterclasses and summer workshops for example. We will keep you informed. The whole team of the IMEP joins me in wishing Bernard the best for the continuation of his musical activities!
